Roland Mouret Spring 2011 Collection at Louis Boston

What: Roland Mouret's Spring 2011 Preview
Where: Louis, 60 Northern Ave., Boston Ma 02210
When: Wednesday, November 30 from 1:00-3:00pm

As we Bostonians brace ourselves for the bitter descend into the dark abyss that is New England winter, Louis of Boston has kindly teamed up with the coveted French Couturier Roland Mouret to tease  us with a fashion show previewing Mouret's Spring 2011 collection tomorrow at their waterfront boutique.  Sure, while the warmth of the sun's rays and the freshness of summer air are currently a thing only found in New Englander's wildest dreams'; your eyes can be treated to such deceitful delight by marveling at the glowing golds and tranquil hues of blues found throughout his silhouette embracing frocks comprising his Spring 2011 line.  Mouret's designs are notoriously known to celebrate the curves of a woman's figure while challenging clean lines and flirty hemlines.

So as the wind is howling with the ferocious ocean spraying at your back, enjoy some comforting complimentary tea as you lament for a warm Mediterranean getaway where you can frolic about in Mouret's designs.  Did I mention Sir Mouret will be on hand himself to discuss any concerns or appraisals you may have regarding his collection? That's right, Roland Mouret will be hosting the viewing himself, so be sure to tell your boss you'll be taking an extended late lunch break tomorrow so you can experience all the event has to offer.  Might as well browse Louis other collections they have on hand as well since you are going to be there anyways, right?

Downtown Crossing Holiday Market

Did everyone have a busy weekend with Thanksgiving and Black Friday going on? Black Friday is like the start of the shopping season with sales going on in stores and extended shopping hours. If you didn't have time to  shop this past Black Friday, don't worry Cyber Monday is coming up. With Thanksgiving over, I am looking forward to Christmas, which is my most favorite holiday. With Christmas approaching, a lot of Christmas events are happening in Boston. One of the events is the Downtown Crossing Holiday Market. There will be 32 vendors each week participating with merchandise ranging from clothing, jewelry, pottery, holiday items, specialty food items, etc. The Holiday Market will be running from Nov. 27 through Dec. 24. The hours are as follows: Monday-Saturday 11am-7pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm. The Holiday Market will be located on Summer Street next to Macy's. It's free of charge so be sure to go check it out.

Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, my favorite time of year. Food, Drinks, Friends, Family and most importantly one of the best nights to go out during the year.
Everyones home, and bands are playing everywhere. Best Bet for tonight? Club Vivid will be hosting Dick n Jane. There will be 2 full bars, an assortment of beer bars, shot girls, and a wicked long wait to get in. Get there early!
At Guru in Plymouth, Jake Hill and the Panic Attacker will be playing.
On Thursday after your hangover has subsided, youve eaten dinner, you're super sick of your family and need to get out?? Frankie D's in Kingston will be open on Thanksgiving night. Check it out, itll be well worth it.
Friday night, DJ Pauly D will be spinning at Lupos in Providence. Its a little further than Plymouth, but really? Who wouldnt want to see Americas favorite guido!
The Infractions will be playing at Club Vivid on Friday as well.
Saturday Night, Last Call will be playing at Frankie D's and Dave Foley Band will be at Damiens in Hanson.

13th Annual Boston Volvo 5k Road Race

Thanksgiving is coming up next week. I am sure that most people will have plans on that day. The 13th Annual Boston Volvo 5k Road Race will take place next Thursday, November 25 from 9am to 11am. Registration starts at 7:30 am. So there's plenty time left before the Thanksgiving feast. It costs $20 for runners to register online before November 22. After that registration fee will cost $25 for on-site registration. Runners will be helping to raise money to cure Multiple Sclerosis. There will be prizes for the top finishers. Another bonus: running helps you to burn calories before the big Thanksgiving feast at night. Feel free to leave comments for the event and we would also like to hear what's your plans for Thanksgiving Day.

Preppy Meets Chic on Newbury Street: Jack Wills in Boston

Word to the wise: Rugby might want to consider their options about subletting their space on Newbury Street before they're forced to swallow a foaming pitcher of defeat; for Jack Wills is in town.....

All Access Boston contributor Grace and I recently had the pleasure of getting to chat with Ben Jones, Marketing and Event assistant for Jack Wills, and Jack Wills Seasonnaire Red Rainey (both of whom  were so chill and easygoing, and couldn't have been nicer about welcoming us to the store)  about the opening of Jack Wills in Boston and about the concept behind the outrageously popular British clothier and lifestyle brand.  For those of you not yet acquainted with the name, London’s resident “University Outfitter” has marked its territory here in Boston (and on the Vineyard and Nantucket) and has seemingly won the affection of New England college students alike.  Including, yours truly ;).  Step into the store and you’ll immediately feel inspired to fulfill the wants and needs of the urban prepster inside all most of us.  While no doubt (and rightfully so) anyone affiliated with the brand laments at the inevitable Ralph Lauren Rugby comparison, it’s admittedly hard for my mind not to immediately revert to that.

However, I would say to any unfamiliar admirer of Jack Wills that the key attribute differentiating the latter from the former is AUTHENTICITY.  It’s funny, when thinking about how to write my reviews/thoughts on the brand, I couldn’t help but equate the name as just that, a brand and not merely a clothing designer. Jack Wills truly is a lifestyle brand that whole-heartedly and sincerely embodies all the accoutrements of the ever-enjoyable collegiate lifestyle.  From the very design and layout of the physical stores and the visual merchandise which include broken beer bottles and shattered glass to resemble the aftermath of one kickass party that I wish I had attended, to the various ingenious marketing initiatives they set forth [they’re rumored to have hosted a beer pong tourney on the Vineyard this past summer to connect and interact with current and potential future brand loyalists (read: genius idea)], to the incredibly laid back and stylish people they have working the floor in their stores [of course, I'm also partial to charming men with British accents and seemingly impeccable style (who isn't partial to that??)-so I'm sure that didn't hurt in the formation of my views…]; these people seem to have got it down to an exact science on how to successfully create a brand AND following.  After visiting the store and exhaustively browsing their official website and all related social media sites (if you've watched any of their vids on youtube of past JW Seasonnaire antics, you'll further empathize with my conclusion); I legitimately want to live the “Jack Wills” life.  Not to demote Rugby or anything, but when I walk into a Rugby boutique, I don’t leave feeling inspired to embrace all that comes with the name-I leave satisfied (nonetheless) with a new tweed blazer or monogrammed sweater. (and maybe the urge to re-watch an old Harry Potter flick?)

Ahhh, and of course, then comes the clothes.  Not only are their designs cute and functional, they're also constructed of the highest quality materials and combine the perfect mixture of sophistication/style/and arrogance embedded in the designs to create classictimeless pieces. Want to pretend for a day that you’re getting dressed for day school again (minus the hideously ill-fitting uniforms)? They’ve got the goods for you to indulge in that, as well as the perfect knit to pair with your riding boots for a stroll through Boston Common on a chilly afternoon.  Their henley tee’s and logo'd casual wear can also be used to create the perfect balanced look of hipster gone prep when paired with one of their signature blazers and a pair of their fantastically fitting jeans or one of their colorful, feminine and flirty skirts.  I could go on for days about "Head to Toe looks" Jack Wills Style--but you can head to the store and and be inspired for yourself.

So you get it, I’ve developed a crush. An infatuation of sorts. With Jack Wills.  Just one peek inside the store and I promise you, you’ll no sooner be professing the same.
